Common questions

Where are my receipts stored?

On your iPhone or iPad, and in your own private iCloud if iCloud is turned on. They're never sent to me or to any other server. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I move my receipts to a new phone?

If iCloud is on, sign in to the same Apple Account on the new phone, install the app and your receipts sync across. Without iCloud, go to Settings → Back Up Everything on the old phone, save the .zip somewhere you can reach (Files, AirDrop or a computer), then use Settings → Restore from Backup on the new one.

My receipts aren't showing on my other device.

Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is on for Tax Receipts Pro (Settings → [your name] → iCloud), and that there's enough iCloud storage. Syncing can take a few minutes, especially for a lot of photos.

The app read the wrong amount or date.

Tap the receipt and correct it. Faded or crumpled receipts are harder to read, so scanning flat, in good light, helps. Receipts with no readable date are marked "No date" and listed in To Review.

It put a receipt in the wrong category.

Change the category on the receipt. The app remembers your choice for that shop and sorts its future receipts the same way. You can see and remove remembered shops in Settings.

"Email to Accountant" doesn't open an email.

That option uses Apple's Mail app, which needs an email account set up. If you use Gmail or Outlook instead, choose Share in the Export menu and pick that app.

Does the app tell me what I can claim?

No. It keeps your records organised and shows the ATO label each category is usually claimed at, but that's a guide only. Your tax agent or the ATO decides what you can claim.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app to remove what's on the device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage and delete the Tax Receipts Pro data. Keep in mind the ATO generally expects tax records to be kept for five years after you lodge.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later.
