Tax Receipts Pro

Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 October 2026

In short: Tax Receipts Pro doesn't collect any of your information. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your receipts and records are kept on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. The developer can't see them.

This policy covers the Tax Receipts Pro app for iPhone and iPad, its home-screen widget and its share extension. Tax Receipts Pro is made by Duckworks, a small Australian app maker run by Brad Duckworth ("I", "me").

What the app collects

Nothing. The app has no servers of its own, and it doesn't send your receipts, records, usage or any identifiers to me or to anyone else. It contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking code.

Where your information is kept

Everything you add, including receipt photos, the text read from them, amounts, categories, notes, work-from-home hours, car trips and settings, is stored:

The widget and share extension pass files and this year's totals to the app through a shared folder on your device. That information doesn't leave the device.

Reading receipts

Text on your receipts is read with Apple's Vision framework, entirely on your device. Receipts aren't uploaded anywhere to be read.

Permissions the app asks for

Camera

Used to photograph receipts. Photos are only taken when you scan.

Photos (add only, optional)

If you turn on "Save scans to Photos" in Settings, a copy of each scan is added to your photo library. The app asks for add-only access, so it can't read your existing photos. Picking a photo to import uses Apple's photo picker, which only gives the app the photos you choose.

Location (optional)

Only used if you turn on GPS trips and start recording a trip, and only while that trip is recording. The route and distance are saved with the trip on your device and in your iCloud. To fill in the start and end suburbs, the app asks Apple Maps to look up those two points, which sends the coordinates to Apple. Location is never used for anything else.

Face ID or Touch ID (optional)

If you turn on the lock, iOS checks your face or fingerprint. The app only learns whether the check passed and never has access to your biometric data.

Notifications (optional)

Reminders for the end of the financial year, weekly scanning and warranties are scheduled on your device. No push service or server is involved.

When information leaves your device

Only when you choose to send it:

Once you've sent a file, it's handled by whoever receives it and by the app or service you used to send it.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your records stay until you delete them. You can delete any receipt, trip or work-from-home day in the app. Deleting the app removes the information stored on that device. To remove the copy in iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage on your iPhone or iPad and delete the Tax Receipts Pro data. Backups you've made are files you control and need to be deleted separately.

The ATO generally expects you to keep tax records for five years after you lodge, so the app checks with you before deleting a receipt that may still be needed.

Children

Tax Receipts Pro is meant for adults managing their tax records and isn't directed at children. It doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because I don't collect or hold any of your personal information, there's nothing for me to give you access to, correct or delete. All your information is in your own hands, on your device and in your iCloud. If you have a question or concern about privacy, please contact me using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. If a change means information would be collected, the app will tell you before it happens.
